§ 16-167. Vehicle and equipment requirements.

  • (a)

    A vehicle license shall be issued for an ambulance only if the vehicle complies with the current ambulance design specifications approved by the state department of health and hospitals.

    (b)

    Each ambulance shall bear the company name in letters not less than five inches in height on the rear exterior and both sides, and shall have a uniform company color scheme distinct from other licensed operators.

    (c)

    A license shall be issued for an ambulance only if the vehicle is equipped with items as outlined below:

    (1)

    All equipment for ambulances as currently required by the state department of health and hospitals for basic life support.

    (2)

    All equipment required for ambulances as currently outlined by the state department of health and hospitals for advanced life support may be carried as an option.

    (3)

    All equipment must be maintained in proper operating condition.

    (d)

    Each emergency ambulance shall have posted in a conspicuous place, readily visible to the occupants, a statement showing the rates to be charged. Such posted rates shall not exceed those currently on file with the parish.
