§ 2-97. Membership.

  • The bureau shall be composed of 17 members, who shall be known as directors, to be appointed by the following persons or organizations: one by the Caddo Parish Commission; one by the Bossier Parish Police Jury; one by the mayor of Bossier City; one by the mayor of Shreveport; four by the Shreveport-Bossier Hotel-Motel Association, two of whom shall have an ownership interest in a hotel within the jurisdiction of the bureau and two of whom shall be from Shreveport and two of whom shall be from Bossier City; one by the Bossier Chamber of Commerce; one by the Shreveport Chamber of Commerce; one by the Shreveport-Bossier African American Chamber of Commerce; one by the Bossier Community Action Program, Inc.; one by the Northwest Chapter of the Louisiana Restaurant Association; one appointed by the mayors and the governing authorities of the municipalities in Caddo Parish that have a population of less than 10,000 persons; one appointed by the mayors and the governing authorities of the municipalities of Bossier Parish that have a population of less than 10,000 persons; and two by the Shreveport-Bossier Attractions Association, one of whom shall be a representative from Louisiana Downs and one of whom shall be a representative from a Shreveport attraction. The terms of all appointees shall be for three years, except as provided in this section. The bureau shall adopt bylaws which shall provide for the expiration dates of the terms of the directors, and may provide for shorter terms for some directors when necessary to prevent all terms from expiring at the same time. Any vacancy in the office of any director caused by the resignation or other reasons shall be filled for the remainder of the unexpired term by appointment in the same manner as the particular office was filled. No director appointed after January 1, 1994, shall serve more than two consecutive three-year terms.
