§ 48-237. Paving design standards, subbase, etc.

  • All flexible pavement shall be designed for a 15-year design life. The design will be based on the AASHTO design, with coefficients for the local area. Residential streets not intended for through streets do not need to have design data furnished. All other streets will require proper design information. All pavement shall consist of a subbase, a base, and a surface. The minimum subbase shall be six inches of a compacted A-6 material or better, or treated material compacted to 95 percent standard proctor. The base shall consist of a minimum of eight inches of crushed stone, or equal, approved by the parish director of public works. The surface shall be a minimum of two inches of hot mix for residential streets and shall be a minimum of three inches for other streets. The use of three-course penetration surface may be approved by the director of public works, provided the base and subbase are designed to carry the total structural loading.
